Born in Lima, Peru and based in NYC, Maria Chávez is best known as an abstract turntablist, sound artist and DJ. Her latest
album, “Maria Chavez PLAYS Stefan Goldmann’s Ghost hemiola” was nominated for a Preis der deutschen schallplattenkritik in 1/2020.
Currently, Maria is on the cover of the textbook about the history of Experimental and Electronic music by Routledge Publishing.

they picked the cotton that saved the world. that picked cotton propelled u.s. economy; a unique capitalist setup. (though anglo saxon colonizers are not unique.) so many pop stars and hip hop billboard mainstays trumpet u.s. capitalism ad nauseam; or escapism & distraction. "Don't Die," also powerful. "i don't believe they lies. don't believe their truth, need they heads for proof" -- that's direct and powerful. the violinist Saydah Ruz stands out here, i think.

Excellent soundscapes and mood...reminds me of the Song Drapes of Jerry Hunt but from different influences. Mesmerizing and inspirational simultaneously. Favorite Track: LETTERS FROM EARTH.
